StoreSpace® Revit Exchange
Connecting retail space planning with 3D design and delivery. Revit Exchange connects StoreSpace’s 2D retail planning environment with Autodesk Revit, allowing planners, architects, and delivery teams to work from the same design intent.
The challenge: 2D planning vs 3D reality
Retail planners rely on 2D plans because they’re fast, flexible, and commercially driven. Architects and contractors rely on 3D BIM models to manage real-world constraints like: ceiling heights and bulkheads, structural elements, MEP elements and fire protection systems.
Too often, these workflows sit in separate tools, owned by different teams, which can lead to design clashes, rework during delivery, cost overruns or programme delays and friction between planning, design and construction teams.

The solution: StoreSpace® Revit Exchange
StoreSpace® Revit Exchange bridges 2D and 3D workflows, enabling seamless collaboration between retail planners and architectural teams.
It allows StoreSpace® layouts to be exported in a format they can be read in Revit, validated against architectural and building constraints, and returned to StoreSpace® with confidence that the plan can be delivered as intended.
The result is faster approvals, fewer errors, and smoother store delivery.
How it works
1. Plan in StoreSpace®
Retail planners create store layouts in StoreSpace® using familiar, fast 2D workflows – optimising space, adjacencies, and commercial performance.
2. Export to Revit
The StoreSpace® plan is exported into Autodesk Revit, where architects and technical teams can work with the layout in a full 3D BIM environment.

3. Validate Against Constraints
In Revit, teams can:
-
Check fixture and layout positioning against ceilings and services
-
Identify clashes with structural or MEP elements
-
Assess buildability before construction begins
4. Sync Back to StoreSpace®
Any approved changes made in Revit are re-imported into StoreSpace®, ensuring planners always work with the latest, validated version of the layout.
Key capabilities
StoreSpace® Revit Exchange provides a practical connection between retail planning and architectural delivery. Store layouts created in StoreSpace® can be transferred directly into Autodesk Revit, allowing architectural teams to work with accurate planning intent in a full 3D BIM environment.
The exchange works in both directions. Layouts can be reviewed and adjusted in Revit to account for structural, ceiling, or services constraints, then synchronised back into StoreSpace®. This ensures retail planners are always working with layouts that reflect real-world conditions, without the need for manual rework or file translation.
By supporting collaboration across 2D and 3D workflows, Revit Exchange maintains a single, shared version of the store layout throughout planning and delivery.
Who it’s for
Retail planners use Revit Exchange to gain confidence that their store layouts are buildable. They continue to plan in StoreSpace®, knowing that layouts can be validated against architectural constraints before delivery, reducing late-stage changes and disruption.
Architects and design teams benefit from receiving clear, accurate planning intent directly into Revit. This enables earlier validation, better coordination with retail teams, and fewer surprises during technical design and construction.
Store development and delivery teams gain improved certainty around cost, programme, and feasibility. With fewer design conflicts and clearer alignment between planning and build teams, projects move more smoothly from approval to execution.
