Fragmented, manual workflows
Managing store layouts, category allocations, and promotional space across hundreds of stores was a complex challenge for NTUC FairPrice, one of Singapore’s largest supermarket and grocery retailers.
Workflows relied heavily on AutoCAD and Excel, requiring store areas to be measured manually in CAD drawings and then recorded in spreadsheets. This fragmented, manual approach created repeated work, errors, and inconsistencies, making it difficult to maintain accurate, up-to-date data across their network.
Maintaining accurate records was a challange
Before implementing StoreSpace®, tasks like measuring store areas and recording category allocations were completed manually. Any change to store measurements required updates across multiple files, increasing the risk of inconsistencies. Maintaining accurate records across the entire store network was time-consuming and prone to error, making operational analysis and planning a complex, repetitive task.
Digitising store layouts with StoreSpace®
FairPrice addressed these inefficiencies by adopting StoreSpace®, moving from spreadsheet-driven workflows to a structured, digital process. The workflow now starts by importing CAD store drawings into the platform. Store areas are digitally marked, including total selling areas and back-of-house spaces, before building category flows across the layout.


Categories can be mapped visually, and planograms assigned directly to specific bays, enabling a clear understanding of store space allocation. The polyline functionality further helps users define areas such as dry goods, frozen products, and fresh departments, maintaining a clear visual representation of store space.

Centralised asset and promotional space management
StoreSpace® also allows FairPrice to digitise and track in-store assets and promotional spaces. Fixtures like promotional stands, pallets, and event areas are assigned unique identifiers and uploaded to StoreSpaceOnline, providing a centralised inventory. This reduces manual tracking effort and ensures all store assets are consistently monitored.
